I had my first memorable encounter with nature at the age of seven when I discovered a wild sunflower on a walk in my rural neighborhood. That wonder continued into a lifelong career in horticulture. After I retired in 2020, nature became my patient teacher as I learned to slow down, pause and breath in the beauty around me.
